Production management
We where approached by a number of large production firms in rapid succession. Each one of them in need of the same software. Something for tracking the processes involved with batch production jobs and the associated quality control process.
Requirements
This system was to be easy to use, robust and above all else, secure. We are pleased to say that the end product is shaping up to meet all requirements and more. Requested functionality included:
- Management of the initial quoting process.
- Converting a quote into a contract.
- Tracking associated documentation.
- Job process management.
- Tracking job progress in real time.
- Quality control.
- Document Generation.
- User Management.
- To Meet the needs for ISO 9001 accreditation.
- In depth reporting.
We noted further functionality that would be of great use alongside this system and have also included that in the development process:
- Stock management.
- Stock control.
- Web based access for customers (allows acceptance of quotes, contracts, collection of documentation and if required job progress).
- Timesheets.
- Clock In / Out for employees.
Features
This system takes the form of robust terminals positioned around the workshop environments. A user logs in with a radio frequency identification ( RFID ) fob. This means that no user name and password are required, although it is possible to use this (or any other) method. The user is then shown the jobs assigned to them. The user selects the current job and goes to work. When they are done for the day, they perform practically the same process to log hours worked.
Users with higher levels of permissions are shown further functionality in terms of user administration, stock levels and control and quality processes. If a job fails on a quality issue then the job can be put on hold until appropriate action has been taken.
Documentation is produced each step of the way and stored in the system which can be retrieved and printed at any time.
